150 g ground beef
1 burger bun
2 lettuce
2 slices of tomato
2 slices of onion
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Chef's tip: Press a small dimple in the center of the patty before cooking so it stays flat instead of puffing up.
Slice the tomato and onion into thin rounds. Tear the lettuce leaves into bun-sized pieces.
Shape the ground beef into a patty about 1.5 cm thick. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Place the patty in the skillet and cook for 4 minutes, until the bottom is browned.
Flip the patty and cook for 4 more minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 71°C/160°F. Transfer to a plate and let rest for 3 minutes.
While step 4 rests
While the patty rests, place the burger bun halves cut-side down in the same skillet and toast for 1 minute, until lightly golden.
Assemble the burger: place lettuce on the bottom bun, then the patty, tomato slices, onion slices, and top bun.
