Instructions
-
Peel the banana and break it into rough chunks. Weigh the frozen berries, oats and spinach.
~3 min
-
Put the 30 g oats in the blender with 200 ml milk and 50 ml water. Blend 30 seconds until the oats break down and the liquid looks milky. Let it stand 2 minutes so the oats soften.
~2 min
Soaking the oats in milk softens their starch and fiber, letting them blend smooth and thicken the smoothie without cooking.
Emulsifying Blend the oats with milk first to break them down, then add the rest and blend until completely smooth. Stop and scrape down once so no chunks remain.
-
Add the banana, 100 g frozen berries and 30 g spinach to the blender. Blend 60 to 90 seconds, scraping down the sides once, until completely smooth and thick.
~2 min
Blending long enough fully breaks down the frozen berries and spinach, giving a uniformly thick, spoonable texture.
Frozen berries are what make it thick and cold. If you use fresh ones, add 3 or 4 ice cubes so the texture stays spoonable.

-
Pour into a tall glass. The smoothie should be thick enough to hold a spoon; if it is too stiff to pour, blend in 1 tbsp water at a time. Drink cold.
~2 min
Adding water gradually keeps the smoothie thick but pourable, since too much liquid would thin it past spoonable.
