Instructions
-
Put 40 g oats, 30 g peanut butter and 15 g honey in a small bowl. Stir with a spoon until the oats are evenly coated and no dry patches remain.
~4 min
Stirring coats every oat flake in peanut butter and honey so the mixture binds evenly instead of leaving dry pockets.
-
Add 15 ml water and stir again until the mixture pulls together into a thick, slightly sticky mass that holds when pressed.
~2 min
Water hydrates the oats and activates the sticky peanut butter proteins, letting the mass hold together when pressed.
If the mixture crumbles when you squeeze it, add water 5 ml at a time until it holds; too much water makes the bites sticky rather than firm.
-
Press the mixture firmly into 4 equal balls about 3 cm across, squeezing each one so it holds its shape.
~4 min
Firm compression removes air pockets and packs the sticky mixture tightly so the bites do not crumble apart.
Press each bite firmly in your palm before chilling. Loose pockets of air are what make no-bake oat bites fall apart later.
-
Place the bites on a small plate and refrigerate for 30 minutes, until firm to the touch.
~30 min
Chilling firms the peanut butter and honey so the bites set solid and hold their shape at room temperature.
